Asam Boi Gose - 4.5% ABV

True collaborations take the very best of those involved to create something very special. Looking for a true taste of Asia, our friends and collaborators at Smith Street Taps in Singapore suggested the unique sweet and salty character of Asam boi or salted plums to mix with our kettle-soured Berlinner Weiss. The resulting beer is a true taste of Asia in an Australian made beer. A redolent deep orange with a dense rocky head, sweet complex aroma and an evocative and intriguing sugary, sweet, salty, fruity and sour palate. Perfect for a humid Singapore afternoon.

Between different batches of Asam Boi Gose there’ll slight differences in flavour profiles. This is from different sugar and acidity levels in the plums we use. It will always have the sweet, sour and salty character you love but let us know if you can spot any differences and which batch is your favourite.

Western Cider - 4.8% ABV

Just apples, Manjimup Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples to be exact, are all we use in our fresh-pressed Western Cider. We keep most of the pectin plus some of the solids in the juice to ensure the full flavours of the apple are expressed through fermentation, including any slight seasonal variation. The result is a truly authentic apple cider that’s naturally cloudy, neither sweet nor dry and with a pleasant acidity that’s perfect for warm Summer days.

Draught - 4.2% ABV

Great beer is not just about whats trendy and crazy, sometimes it’s about getting back to basics and doing simple things well. We’ve flexed our collective brewing muscles and created a brilliantly simple beer for those occasions where you just want, well, a beer. Sparklingly light and fresh with delicate yeast esters and some light herbal notes from Jester hops.

Seasonal Releases

Barrel Aged Cranberry & Pineapple Sour - 4.8% ABV

We rescued some Pineapple Sour from our 2019 batch that would have otherwise been destroyed. It was barrel-aged and blended with a fresh batch. The result was a bright, tropical sour complexity paired with subtle oak characters and notes of Brettanomyces. But we didn’t stop there…to balance the complexity we tossed a healthy dose of cranberry juice into the fermenter, on top of a tonne of rescued pineapple. This annual sour has certainly earned a place in our hearts.

Native Series – Strawberry Gum Stout - 6.5% ABV

A journey back to the roots of the Native Series, But this time, we have put it in a new can packed with flavour and information about the ingredients we use and the people we learn with. The Strawberry Gum Stout is a rich, full-bodied milk stout brewed with strawberry gum leaf. The addition of strawberry gum is generally used to enhance the flavours in producing a vast range of desserts, jams and cooked fruit dishes traditionally. This time we used it for beer!
We added the gum leaf with 10 minutes left of the boil to extract as much of the natural berry characters from the Eucalypt. This brings an almost sweet medicinal taste to this beer. We have taken on an old classic with the addition of a native Australian twist. Enjoy!

Malt – Pilsner malt, pale chocolate, roasted barley, rolled barley

Double IPL - 7.8% ABV

It is possible to have too much of a good thing, but in the hands of our skilled brewers, we don’t believe we’ve got to that point yet with this super-charged version of our much loved and admired IPL. Everything has been taken to a new level, with elevated alcohol, a big balanced bitterness and of course an beautifully intense hop aroma. It’s big, and it might hurt a little, but it’s a good hurt.

Shirazzaweiss ’19 - 4.5% ABV

Being at the heart of The Margaret River, engulfed by surrounding vines and red-handed winemakers, what better way to celebrate the Grapes of the region and the end of vintage. When sweet meets sour, Our traditional Berliner weisse has been blended with local shiraz grapes handpicked by our team alongside LS Merchants from their Spring Ridge Vineyard in Margaret River. The grapes were added at the end of fermentation to kick start secondary fermentation and balance out the acidity. Devilishly red in colour, mildly sour and finishing with a dry musked flavour from the shiraz.

This is the beer our Beerfarm regulars look forward to as the cooler months close in. A rich and rounded milk stout with all the bitter chocolate and coffee flavours you’d expect. Beerfarm Australian IPA Flavour

We made an experimental IPL hopped with new hop varieties all the way over from the Hop Breeding Company in Yakima Valley, USA. Being experimental hops, it is our job to use these hops in a beer and record our findings to present back to the HBC. We decided to make an IPL because we thought it would give the hops a true opportunity to shine through and be the star of the show in a light malt-based beer.

The results – A German-inspired Lager at 6%, hopped with HBC520 & HBC522 (They don’t even have names yet!) has produced many layers of flavour with a combination of characters you don’t always find in a lager. Oak, Vanilla, and spice jump out of the glass and give a new meaning for the name lager. German yeast provides phenolic clove characters that combine well with the interesting flavours of the experimental hops and the dry malt base. This beer is sure to challenge the mouth and we want to know what you think of it! It’s an open slather, let us know what you smell and taste so you can be apart of providing some solid feedback to our friends at the Hop Breeding Company over in the U S of A.

Beerfarm X Besk IPL Flavour

Watermelon & Basil Sour - 5% ABV

To create this refreshing fruit sour, we got under the hood of our house Berliner Weisse recipe and added a truckload of watermelon guts to fuel fermentation. A dash of vinegar, reclaimed from barrels used in our recent Simply Red release, and a sprig of fresh basil sweetness to balance the sweet/sour flavours. And a cheeky, tastebud tickling acidity invites you to enjoy another.

Originally brewed for Carwyn Cellars Canvent 2019 Australian Craft Beer Calendar, we are super stoked to now release to the masses. Made from salvaged watermelons that would have otherwise gone to waste due to their unconventional appearance.

Strawberry Sour ’20 - 4.6% ABV

We salvaged more than a tonne of quality Western Australian strawberries that would have otherwise gone to waste due to their unconventional appearance. Fortunately, these juicy berries perfectly complement our classic Berliner Weisse base. We’ve also upped the dosage of lime and mint in this batch, yielding at least 11% more refreshment from one of our favourite Summer sours.

The resulting beer is softly acidic and amalgamates the three main ingredients beautifully to create a  beer that is testament to its style and super refreshing during these hot summer days

Simply Red - 6.0% ABV

A New Flanders

Barrel-aged beers are complex and interesting at the best of times, Simply Red is Beerfarm’s Flanders style red ale aged in Cab Merlot Barrels for 12 months. Each individual barrel-housed its own funky cultures including multiple strains of Brettanomyces, lactobacillus & Acetobacter contributing acidity and farmhouse funk. This balances nicely with the raisins and cherry characters coming from the aged malt base. With all this complexity we made sure all the flavours were in check and rounded out with subtle oak. By far one of the most complex beers we have ever brewed in Metricup.

Aperitivo Sour - 4.2% ABV

We love beers, we love cocktails but most of all we love sharing the experience with friends. This one is made with our good pals at Si Paridiso in Perth, who have just recently opened their second venue in Mt Lawley boasting a solid range of beers and a back bar to make your mouth drool. So what could we brew to reflect this new venture? Well, how about a sour beer to compliment all the aperitivos you can imagine.
Think Amaro-Fernet- or Campari…
This beer is a dry and refreshing Berlinerweiss loaded with 50kgs of blood orange sorbet, orange juice & zest. The orange and citrus were packed in along with a healthy load of rhubarb during the boil to help round off this very easy drinking and approachable sour….

Barrel Aged American Barley Wine - 10% ABV

The first packaged release of our barrel program, this beer reflects the creativity and experimental nature of our brewers in cultivating truly unique flavours. Some work and some don’t, but that’s the beauty of the barrel-ageing process.

American barley wines are very much like their namesakes. Big, bold, and full of character with everything about them dialled up to 11. Rich toffee and caramel malts on a smooth sweet body, enough bitterness to attempt some kind of balance and a wonderfully improbable whack of dry hops. Hugely enjoyable, but in small doses. 12 months ago we sent some into barrel to mature and develop some complex and slightly funky characters. We dosed it up with a bill of bold American dry hops giving this beauty a fresh undertone!

Barrel Aged Saltbush Barley Wine - 11.4% ABV

Back in May 2017 we released the second of our Collaborative Native series with Fervor. A Barleywine infused with Saltbush, which is a native plant found across the whole of Western Australia. The beer was received exceptionally well and since then has been resting up in a Oak ridden bed to further build its character.

Few beer styles love their time in wood more than a big barley wine. Big levels of flavour, big alcohol and big bitterness are accentuated and developed over time into something truly unique. Our classic salted caramel themed Barley Wine has absorbed the tannins from the barrel, taken on a hint of earthy brett character and slowly refermented up to a mighty 11.4%. Developing a rich, creamy, dark toffee and vanilla complexity has added to the malt character during its 12 months asleep in oak barrels. Our thanks again to Fervor for introducing us to this delicious native ingredient and the traditional custodians of the land.

Lemon Verbina Vanilla Berliner - 4.5% ABV

Brewed in collaboration with our pals at Moondog (VIC), did we make this beer because we like the way Lemon Verbena Vanilla Berliner rolls off the tongue, or the way a lemon meringue beer tastes on it? Either way, the resulting beer tastes pretty much exactly like a lemon meringue pie and that makes us , and hopefully you, incredibly happy.
How did we do it? Our classic berliner weisse flavoured in the kettle with Lemon Verbena sourced from Darcy’s (from Moondog) mum’s garden which gives a complex yet distinctly fresh, sour lemon flavour. Fresh vanilla pods and some lactose sweetness balances the lactic bite of a true berliner weisse. A heavenly pie served by the glass rather than the slice.

La Maison Saison – Blackberry - 6.8% ABV

We do love a good Saison, there is something about our existing house saison with its spicy yeast character from a blend of world renowned saison yeasts that makes it a favourite of the farm. So when the opportunity came to add heaps of blackberries from our friends at The Berry Farm, there was little further discussion needed. Supremely fragrant with banana and bubblegum esters, cinnamon, white pepper and of course brilliantly fresh blackberries. Impossible not to love.

Bigger alcohol, much bigger hops and lots and lots of chocolate. Bakers chocolate, chocolate nibs and dark cocoa were added whenever we thought we could get away with it. Established for the farmer – Strawberry lime and mint edition

When farmers are in need and fruit is going to waste… Who you gonna call? Our classic Berliner Weiss is the perfect base to show off the extraordinary quality of Mal’s Black Label strawberries that would, in these unfortunate times, have otherwise gone to waste. Not only that, but a mighty 1.4 tonnes of them were added to the tank of this classic sour ale to give it that fresh fruit hit, quietly accompanied by a much more restrained addition of lime and mint.
The resulting beer is an almost creamy, softly acidic and smoothie-like beer that is testament to the war on waste and supporting local farmers to save their harvest.

Desert Lime and Lemon Myrtle IPA - 6.5% ABV

Beer is the one of the most complex foods we consume, and this is one of the most interesting, layered and downright extraordinary beers we’ve ever made. Starting with our inspirational friends at Fervor who kindly handpicked Lemon Myrtle and Desert Limes for us to augment a cloudy, velvety rich and complex IPA made more-ish with the addition of lactose sugars and creamy nitrogen gas. We also thought we’d add our new discovery; Southern Passion hops from South Africa to add even more lemony, tropical wonders to the beer. The result is something that is almost too big for our already generous 500ml cans.

Choc Rock Rhubarbarian - 5.0% ABV

The story behind the relationship of Rocky Ridge and Beerfarm starts simply with a postcode, two farm breweries located a stones throw away from each other in the sou-west. Both who love exploring the endless possibilities of brewing beer, drinking beer, farming and naturally share an unprecedented amount of love and respect for each other.

So, we wanted to get super weird on this one……from the ground, from our farms , cultivating our own Lacto and being different. The brief was simple, Brew a beer with rhubarb (from the ground) and chocolate (from the surrounds) and after some consideration (a few beers) we came up with a dark sour beer with chocolate and Rhubarb and wrapped up in a bed of Nitro – The Choc Rock (y Ridge) Rhubarbarian was born.

Now dark, sour, nitro beers are few and far between so it is a beer you have to take a few sips to understand…. It’s for GABS though right? The finished product is a rich, earthy, slightly soured dark ale with a touch of love and passion. It outlines the true trades of our craft and should give you something to think about, or talk about.

Shirazzaweisse - 4.5% ABV

Grain Meets Grape

In the heart of the Margaret River, surrounded by vines and red-handed winemakers, what better way to celebrate the end of vintage, than blending our traditional kettle-soured Berliner weisse with local shiraz grapes sourced locally with the help of LS Merchants. Perfectly ripe and bursting with intense varietal flavour, the grapes have balanced the delicate lemony, lactic sourness of the beer and added a wonderful depth of flavour. It’s a feast for all the senses with a brilliant deep pink colour a tangy sourness and a complex, tannic earthiness.

NAIPA – Native Australian IPA - 6.5% ABV

The latest beer in our Native Series beers was sourced from a field of a 1000 bush lime plants at Marvick Native Farms. We picked the big and boisterous flavours of sunrise and blood limes to create our own version of a New England IPA. This Native Australian IPA has surpassed everything we could have hoped for in a beer with an extraordinary spectrum of tropical and citrus lime aromas and a delicate acidity that makes this hoppy and light malt IPA wonderfully drinkable.

It’s a whole new style of beer and a whole range of new flavours and it’s all thanks to our friends at Fervor and Marvick.

Ginger Sour - 5.0% ABV

Our Berliner Weiss brewed with fresh ginger. With the sun still shining and a secret love for ginger beer, we decided to make one with a sour twist. To help balance out the spice of ginger we soured the mash for 16 hours to achieve a soft level of acidity. We then added bucket loads of ginger post fermentation to boost as much ginger flavour as possible to deliver a sharp spiced character to our German Berliner Weiss.
