We do love a good Saison, there is something about our existing house saison with its spicy yeast character from a blend of world renowned saison yeasts that makes it a favourite of the farm. So when the opportunity came to add heaps of blackberries from our friends at The Berry Farm, there was little further discussion needed. Supremely fragrant with banana and bubblegum esters, cinnamon, white pepper and of course brilliantly fresh blackberries. Impossible not to love.

This is the beer our Beerfarm regulars look forward to as the cooler months close in. A rich and rounded milk stout with all the bitter chocolate and coffee flavours you’d expect. We’ve added milk sugar (lactose) to give it a velvety texture and probably a few more hops than usual in the style; a forgivable sin surely.

The latest beer in our Native Series beers was sourced from a field of a 1000 bush lime plants at Marvick Native Farms. We picked the big and boisterous flavours of sunrise and blood limes to create our own version of a New England IPA. This Native Australian IPA has surpassed everything we could have hoped for in a beer with an extraordinary spectrum of tropical and citrus lime aromas and a delicate acidity that makes this hoppy and light malt IPA wonderfully drinkable.

It’s a whole new style of beer and a whole range of new flavours and it’s all thanks to our friends at Fervor and Marvick.

Shirazzaweisse - 4.5% ABV

Grain Meets Grape

In the heart of the Margaret River, surrounded by vines and red-handed winemakers, what better way to celebrate the end of vintage, than blending our traditional kettle-soured Berliner weisse with local shiraz grapes sourced locally with the help of LS Merchants. Perfectly ripe and bursting with intense varietal flavour, the grapes have balanced the delicate lemony, lactic sourness of the beer and added a wonderful depth of flavour. It’s a feast for all the senses with a brilliant deep pink colour a tangy sourness and a complex, tannic earthiness.

Strawberry Sour - 4.6% ABV

Established for the farmer – Strawberry lime and mint edition

When farmers are in need and fruit is going to waste… Who you gonna call? Our classic Berliner Weiss is the perfect base to show off the extraordinary quality of Mal’s Black Label strawberries that would, in these unfortunate times, have otherwise gone to waste. Not only that, but a mighty 1.4 tonnes of them were added to the tank of this classic sour ale to give it that fresh fruit hit, quietly accompanied by a much more restrained addition of lime and mint.
The resulting beer is an almost creamy, softly acidic and smoothie-like beer that is testament to the war on waste and supporting local farmers to save their harvest.

Asam Boi Gose - 4.5% ABV

True collaborations take the very best of those involved to create something very special. Looking for a true taste of Asia, our friends and collaborators at Smith Street Taps in Singapore suggested the unique sweet and salty character of Asam boi or salted plums to mix with our kettle-soured Berlinner Weiss. The resulting beer is a true taste of Asia in an Australian made beer. A redolent deep orange with a dense rocky head, sweet complex aroma and an evocative and intriguing sugary, sweet, salty, fruity and sour palate. Perfect for a humid Singapore afternoon.

Barrel Aged Saltbush Barley Wine - % ABV

Back in May 2017 we released the second of our Collaborative Native series with Fervor. A Barleywine infused with Saltbush, which is a native plant found across the whole of Western Australia. The beer was received exceptionally well and since then has been resting up in a Oak ridden bed to further build its character.

Few beer styles love their time in wood more than a big barley wine. Big levels of flavour, big alcohol and big bitterness are accentuated and developed over time into something truly unique. Our classic salted caramel themed Barley Wine has absorbed the tannins from the barrel, taken on a hint of earthy brett character and slowly refermented up to a mighty 11.4%. Developing a rich, creamy, dark toffee and vanilla complexity has added to the malt character during its 12 months asleep in oak barrels. Our thanks again to Fervor for introducing us to this delicious native ingredient and the traditional custodians of the land.

Choc Rock Rhubarbarian - 5.0% ABV

The story behind the relationship of Rocky Ridge and Beerfarm starts simply with a postcode, two farm breweries located a stones throw away from each other in the sou-west. Both who love exploring the endless possibilities of brewing beer, drinking beer, farming and naturally share an unprecedented amount of love and respect for each other.

So, we wanted to get super weird on this one……from the ground, from our farms , cultivating our own Lacto and being different. The brief was simple, Brew a beer with rhubarb (from the ground) and chocolate (from the surrounds) and after some consideration (a few beers) we came up with a dark sour beer with chocolate and Rhubarb and wrapped up in a bed of Nitro – The Choc Rock (y Ridge) Rhubarbarian was born.

Now dark, sour, nitro beers are few and far between so it is a beer you have to take a few sips to understand…. It’s for GABS though right? The finished product is a rich, earthy, slightly soured dark ale with a touch of love and passion. It outlines the true trades of our craft and should give you something to think about, or talk about.
